lepht vs. world

my fantastic week of attempting to wrestle my life under control was topped off, like a layer of fetid cream atop a trifle of failures and overdraft, by waking up at 4pm today to find the house boiler had eroded into total uselessness. oh, hello, spongebath! i missed you.

looks like i'll be scrubbing my white ass with a washcloth for about a week. sometimes i think i pissed off some god by being born.

Dread Crom is pissed off by the birth of every homo sapiens, eroding the glorious lineage of his chosen. It's all in this leaflet. We have meetings every Tuesday where we self-flagellate and beg Him not to murder us. Would you like to come to a service?

You get an email from me recently? Shit's been acting up...

A sponge bath is character building; after which you may read a tomb, beat workers and generally be a spiffing sort of fellow.

i'm a pretty spiffing sorta fellow already without trying to wash my pasty arse in a bowl of warm water.

also, Unq, i don't think so. if you did, i'll be replying to it pretty soon.

You've got to take it chilled out you perfectionist. If you expect things to be perfect then when something terrible happens your world will crash down, just take things on the fly.

me, a perfectionist? i wish. that might make me work a little harder.

Well you're pretty damn sure closer to being a perfectionist than I am. You get awards. You have a blog. You have cool tech. Hell, you are cool tech.

On a partly related note, does anyone else get the weird feeling they're wasting valuable life time? I know some people who're in their first CompSci semester and have also taken up the mathematicians' lectures and some third semester CompSci lectures, and to be frank, I feel stupid compared to most people around me. (granted, I also take those maths lectures, but damn it, I want to use my university time the best I can)
There's people who've been sponsored by Google, who went to the gnome summit in Boston recently, people who skipped two classes, people who read maths books in their free time (there's such a thing as free time?!)

So, what do you say, Sapiens Anonym readers? Am I stupid or is this something everyone feels at some point?

Max: I've definitely felt that way. And, leaving aside the inferiority complex-promoting aspect, I love it. Being the smartest person in the room is flattering to the ego, but means you probably aren't learning anything.
Plus, being outclassed by my friends means I've got smarter people to bug if I need help with something. ",)

Yes to the first question, too. I've just spent three months sitting waiting to get the cash to do the next step in several projects, which is a vicious waste of time in anyone's book.

Yes, but being the dumbest in the room/class makes you feel like you're missing out. Every time somebody tells me of what they've already achieved and done, I wish I had done more, and I have to think I've been wasting my time. That thing where you're waiting for funding isn't your fault...
But yes, thinking that you're the one with the best chances of learning something new is a very good attitude, I'll remember that.

In other news, there's a lecture about biohacking in entropia (Karlsruhe, Germany) next sunday at 2100 hours, and I'm so going to attend. Anyone who's in the area should stop by.

Isn't the idea that we all pissed off God by being born one of the central tenets of Christianity?

@Ian: nah, only those descended from Adam and Eve. So we just have to figure out which of the post-Toba humans was Eve, who descended from her (easier to trace mother's lineage) and the ones with none of her DNA can go off into the Age Of Aquarius, while the rest of us can sit here and grump.
I think that's the theory, anyway. (",)
