with what could be considered success, meatwise: i am stable on the boxone, and not as fucked-up 24/7 as some people's pessimism had projected. it took me longer than i thought to acclimatise to it - i hadn't counted on how hard it would hit me after the withdrawal sucked away my tolerance, so it did fuck me up a bit for the first week, and then i had the fucking luck to get ill again. hence my extended absence from SA and indeed life in general. i'm now back, although i ought to warn you all that since my last undergraduate semester just started, i won't be as active in H+ as i am during the summers when i don't have as much to do.

i guess the first thing to do now is figure out a prototypical diagram and a list of components, which i can then start acquiring piecemeal as money comes in and goes out. i will be working on the diagram/list this week, i think.

the bad news is, of course, that since i'm still stubbornly alive, you don't get any of my stuff yet.

Good thing to know you're still alive. Still - I call dibs on your head, it would make for a nice decoration if laid in formaldehyde solution.

I can't wait till I see the next of your project ;)

Lame personal spam:
I've finally gotten to university. Incredible. Real, living people who love xkcd, understand my jokes and hate facebook. Nerdy puns are appreciated instead of frowned upon, and I even heard the word transhumanism out of a mouth other than mine own. Yay!

Max, please don't get me started on how much i wish that self-important, ego-massaging cunt who draws xkcd would just stop.

Think of the guy what you want, I like the comic. I don't like the hipster status people seem to take for granted as soon as they're mentally capable of wiki'ing the jokes in the comic, but oh well. He managed to get people to finance building a school. Point noted though.

Bah! Had a consultation with a piercer about getting a magnetic implant. Not only would he not do any work in someone's fingers, he wouldn't trust anyone in this country who said they could. So, well, bollocks.

Nice to see you haven't fallen off the cosmic meat train.

Just a thought, i'd quite like to see a vid of what your implants can actually do; all i've found so far is vids of you cutting holes in yourself and sticking things into said holes.

You might get a few more people willing to try this sorta thing if they saw demonstrations of the upsides as well as the rather painful procedures. That however is incidental. I just want to see what it looks like when you use your magnetic fingers.

Max - eh, i just don't like him personally. i'm sure he has done good in the world, but he's still got his head jammed up his arse... to me it always seemed like the comic might as well be titled "Jokes You Won't Get Because You're Not Geek-Cool Like We Are." preferably with a subtitle "Why Can't Women Be More Like We Want Them To?" ugh.

Unq - i told you, we're boned in this country. it sucks balls. if you are around the Granite City, though, i give my word i'll help you out.

H+ Guy - er, thanks. you seem to have a rather strange conception of what my implants do, though - they're sensory organs, sib, you can't "see" them stimulating my nerves.

sure, you could see me pick up paperclips and shit (i do that in one of the videos with an existing magnetic node) but that's a side effect, not their primary function.

i would be quite willing to demonstrate that it is actually a sense by doing a double-blind test and identifying electrical fields present/not present, like the ones off a plug or something, but that's a lot of effort for something nobody's asked me for yet. it'd be hard to do when i'm just a human in a house, not a lab scientist researching this shit.

To tell the truth, i forgot they were sensing organs for a bit there. Silly me.

Lepht said...

... i see. out of curiosity what did you think they were for? what kind of implanted functionality has a visible output, that is?

By forgot, i really mean forgot. My memory has been shot to hell recently :\. Until you reminded me i believe i could only remember the magnetism.
My bad

Do the neodym nodes interfere with an RFID implant?
